HUBTEX MQ 30 SO – ORDER PICKING OF BOBSLEIGHS
Loading platform for one-sided loading and unloading of bobsleighs from a racking system
Load capacity of up to 6700 lb
Storage and retrieval of bobsleighs
HUBTEX Load Manager (HLM)
The HUBTEX ESTL MQ 30 SO was developed for the storage and retrieval of bobsleighs from a pallet racking system with roller tracks. The bobsleighs are positioned on two roller tracks and guided longitudinally either via the runners or the runner protectors. The bobsleighs have a maximum weight of 662 lb. Two types of bobsleigh are handled: Type 1 is pulled out of the racking system via the front runner suspension using runner grippers, while Type 2 (Swiss bob) is pulled out via the central towing lug using hook grippers. The flap hooks allow the loading platform to be changed quickly.
OLYMPIA BOB RUN ST. MORITZ-CELERINA
OLDEST BOBSLEIGH RUN RELIES ON THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY
The world’s last natural ice bobsleigh run, the Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz-Celerina, relies on a HUBTEX MQ 30 for the storage of its bobsleighs. It transports the bobsleighs between the storage area and the 6.7 ft long bobsleigh run. The storage facility extends over a length of 197 ft and reaches 50 ft into the mountain. A total of 75 bobsleighs can be stored here across two levels. This efficient use of storage space has helped to reduce staffing requirements.
Features
HUBTEX equipped the MQ 30 with an additional loading platform and a push-and-pull device. Using the feed mechanism, the sledges are either pulled from the racking via their runner protectors or gripped by a towing hook and placed on the platform for transport to the bobsleigh run. The driver requires around one minute to pull the bobsleigh onto the loading platform and two minutes to bring it to the start area. In addition, the platform can be removed outside the season, allowing the forklift to be used as a regular multi-directional sideloader.
In contrast to mechanical guidance, steering in an inductive guidance system is carried out actively, with a safety clearance of 6 in on each side. Antennas in the wheel arms of the forklift guide the vehicle along the wire embedded in the floor. This system helps to prevent damage to the truck or the racking, as the forklift is guided precisely into position before entering the racking aisle.
A safety concept developed by a Swiss door manufacturer ensures that the roller shutter only opens when the extended platform of the MQ 30 is positioned at exactly the same height as the door. The forklift can only move away once the roller shutter has been closed again after the bobsleigh has been removed.
